JP Morgan is one of the world’s largest investment banks. Paul
was a Team Leader & Systems Designer in the Debt Capital Market group.
Responsibilities and Achievements
Managed projects using MS Project and JP Morgan's in-house SDLC.
Managed a team of eight PowerBuilder developers (including some outsourced
& offshore developers).
Worked with business experts to determine requirements and prepare specifications
using the Unified Modelling Language (UML).
Introduced standard software management controls such as source control,
defect tracking & a regular maintenance release cycle.
Performed logical and physical data modelling using PowerDesigner.
Presented a session at the Sybase TechWave conference in San Diego. This
showcased the bond issuance system Paul had designed which, at the time,
was one of the first PowerBuilder applications to use XML.
Presented a full day XML seminar for the Sybase Users Group in Zurich.
Wrote articles for the PowerBuilder Developer's Journal.
Contributed to Sybase white papers.
Projects
Designed and implemented a bond issuance system that integrated dealers
and clearing systems with JP Morgan’s back office system. This XML-based
messaging system processed $20,000,000,000 USD in its first 9 months of
operation.
Refactored the interest calculation engine to cater for more complex instruments
and dramatically improve its performance.
Oversaw major enhancements of the bank’s bond administration system.
